Subclass 590 (Student Guardian visa)

This visa is for students who are under 18 years of age and wish to study in Australia. It requires the student to have a guardian in Australia or obtain a welfare arrangement if the guardian is not a parent or relative. The same requirements for enrolment, financial capacity, health, character, and insurance coverage apply as for the Subclass 500 visa.

To be eligible for the Subclass 590 visa, you must be at least 21 years old, have adequate accommodation and financial capacity to support the student, and meet health and character requirements.

This visa allows you to accompany and provide care for a student who is studying in Australia. You will act as the guardian for the student, ensuring their welfare and well-being during their stay.

As a Subclass 590 visa holder, you are required to provide accommodation, support, and general welfare for the student. You cannot undertake paid work or study for more than three months while in Australia on this visa.

The duration of the visa will depend on the student’s age and the length of their course of study. Typically, the visa is granted for the same duration as the student’s visa or until the student turns 18 years old.
